Vector Art is a browser-based 2D vector editor aimed at mechanical parts, fabrication drawings, and laser/CNC workflows. You draw and edit geometry in /app, tag laser operations, export SVG/DXF, and optionally validate assemblies in Assembly Line or 3D preview pages. It is not a full parametric 3D MCAD replacement.

Laser workflows are a first-class fit — cut/engrave/score operations, kerf compensation, nest layout, and DXF layer export — but the editor is general-purpose 2D vector editing. Use it for brackets, boxes, gears, signage, classroom kits, or any work that needs clean vector output.

No. The editor runs in a modern browser after you sign in. Your account dashboard stores cloud designs; the Laravel app serves the editor at /app and static assets from /js and /css. For local development you can also run php artisan serve or the optional Node static server.

The hosted app expects network access for sign-in and cloud save/load (/api/vd/*). Self-hosted deployments can run entirely on your infrastructure; contact us if you need an air-gapped or on-prem setup.

Export: SVG, DXF (with CUT/ENGRAVE/SCORE layers; raster images omitted from DXF), EPS, PDF, Illustrator (.ai), Photoshop (.psd), TIFF, PNG, JPEG, and WebP. Projects save as versioned JSON.
Import: SVG, DXF, EPS, PDF, Illustrator (.ai), Photoshop (.psd), TIFF, HEIC, and raster images with optional bitmap trace.

Assembly Line is a separate 3D workspace at /assembly-line. It extrudes 2D DXF profiles into parts, lets you mate faces with constraints (coincident, concentric, parallel, perpendicular, distance), and saves assemblies inside a cloud project. Use it to check fit before cutting — not as a replacement for the 2D editor.

Personal accounts save designs to their own cloud library. The Enterprise plan lets you create a team workspace, invite members by email, organize team projects, and assign designs to shared projects. Enterprise admins manage members; members work inside projects they are assigned to.

Yes. Vector Art is a Laravel application with a static editor bundle — you can deploy it on your own servers or VPC. Self-hosted setups include admin controls, enterprise workspaces, and configurable editor features. Contact us to discuss deployment requirements.
